Miracle of all miracles! The two most recent goldfishes that Princess One and Princess Two won during the Orange County (OC) Fair are still alive! They brought home one when the Fair started but it only survived for 5 short days. These 2 have survived for 10 days, and hopefully more.
You might wonder why this seems to be an important event for me. Let me explain why. I love pets and I grew up sleeping with cats and playing with dogs. Then I married my husband who is totally allergic to anything furry, and now I have a daughter (Princess One) who is absolutely scared of anything furry. So I became a petless animal lover. As a compromise, we settled for goldfish. It's not furry, and doesn't need potty-training, but it's lifespan is way too short, which breaks my heart whenever it dies. We stopped having a pet fish for a few years until OC Fair kicked in. I was intent on not having one for the rest of our lives but seeing how the girls take care of the fishes, making sure that they're not overfed and that they live in clean water, my opinion is starting to change. Perhaps, having pets will teach the girls to be more responsible, more compassionate, more caring - I don't know. What I do know right now is to live in the moment and enjoy the pet fishes while they last, just like how I enjoy and savor the presence of my daughters who, in their own due time will spread their wings and leave our nest.
How about you, do you have pets? Why or why not?

Our Party
To the main course of this post.
For those of you joining us for the first time, we only have 2 easy, simple rules:
1) Link up your creative post - can be a DIY project, decor, photography, crafts, recipes, poem, thrift finds, link party, or that informative syndicated post that can make us laugh, or cry - in short, whatever you're proud of! And if you like to link more creative posts, go for it! We'd love to see them :) (No links to businesses or giveaways. We have another party for these exclusively every Tuesday called Market Your Biz & Giveaways at 5 pm, PST.)
2) Follow as many blogs as you desire, either via Google Friend Connect or Linky Followers, preferably starting first with the one who linked before you and after you, before branching out, and let them know by leaving a comment. (Following me will be very much appreciated, and I definitely follow back. Just let me know you're following.)
Displaying the party button on your blog, while optional, is very much appreciated :) It will help you remember to come back and link up to the the happiest blog party on the block (ahem!). It will also help others find their way to the party which we all love because the more the merrier :)
Link opens up every Sunday at 5:00 pm, PST and ends Friday at 11:59 pm.

Friends, go ahead and get to know each :) One followed blogger is one gained friend. And please, don't forget to join my Market Your Biz and Giveaways blog party every Tuesday at 5 pm, PST. It's your chance for free promotion of your family-friendly business and giveaways.
Now, let's party like no other!

Thanks for hosting! Have a great week! Kids do love fish! Each of my kids had Beta fish, which they adored. They were sure the fish were communicating with them! They lasted two years at which point, I decided we were done with fish. I was tired of cleaning out the tanks, I admit. We do have a dog. I probably enjoy her the most, however she has bonded nicely with my 3 year old!
ReplyDeleteTanya, fishes lasting 2 years is amazing! We would be lucky if our fishes last for a month. Consider me envious that you have a dog. Btw, thanks for joining Creative Bloggers' Party & Hop.

ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks so much for hosting... linked up my vintage shipping trunk :) Just found you and now following. Have a great week Jo x
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hop! We don't have any animals, because I have a hard enough time keeping up with the kids. We used to have a dog until my daughter was 1, and then it was just too much work for me. They keep asking for a pet, but I'm not a dog person and my hubby's not a cat person. Plus, we just travel too much. Hope you have a blessed week!

ReplyDeleteWe are pet owners & lovers. It's so hard when we've had to put one of our beloved dogs down, but rather than have one continue struggling after a stroke, or bleeding internally, we've (I should say I, being the one always there through the last breath) done what had to be. I am a highly allergic person, too. Did you know poodles have hair not fur? True. There's even a separate allergy test for them. We've had standards (40-60 lbs)for 20 yrs. We started to help our son with autism learn to relate, it works! There are other "hypoallergenic" dog breeds if you're interested.

That's sad. I love pets and it always breaks my heart when they pass on to the other life. I've been telling my hubby about poodles having hair but for him they're all the same, so I guess it's a matter of time before we can have a dog :) Thanks for sharing your experience.
