Take for example last Thursday. Princess One and I attended a concert of Victoria Justice at the Pacific Amphitheater. (As a little background, I mentioned how totally starstruck she is with this actress and singer from the Nickelodeon series Zoey 101 and Victorious in this post. I have a thousand reasons why we shouldn't go, like it's going to be an added expense, that it's too crowded, that it's going to end late and I have to go to work early next day, etc. But I'm so glad I did because no amount of money, nor amount of sleep, can match that priceless experience I had with her.
To be surrounded with adoring tweens screaming their heads off, glowsticks abundantly being waved up in the air, a daughter that sang along with Victoria, WOW! What made it more WOW! was the portion when Victoria asked the audience, "Do you have a special person in your life that inspires you and believes in you?" and Princess One pointed at me unabashedly in front of my friends. I never paid attention to the lyrics of the song but while Princess One was singing along with Victoria, the following lines melted my heart:
You might be crazy
Have I told you lately
That I love you,
You're the only reason that I'm not afraid to fly
And it's crazy
That someone could change me
Now no matter what it is I have to do
I'm not afraid to try
And you need to know that you're the reason, why!
After Victoria sang the song, she urged all the girls to give their moms a hug and Princess One dutifully did so. At that instant, my friends, I had a flashback of the feelings I had when I witnessed Princess One's first smile, when finally I felt her hugs tightened around my neck when I was carrying her as an infant, and many other special milestones in her life - the feeling of awe, being accomplished, and that "Awwww" moment - and I felt exactly the same when she hugged me right then and there. The epiphany I got was, "I'm still my daughter's first love!" That's the best payback I got as a parent so far.
How about you? Any special moment with your child that you want to share?
You clicked, inlinkz tallied. The readers' favorite blog post this past week, being the most viewed post, is White Buffets by Mindy from Pretty in Paint. She has a serious love affair with old vintage or antique buffets...and she dreams about them! This buffet which she painted with CeCe Caldwell Vintage White turned out awesome, don't you think?
