Photo Challenge #1 - Resolution

Darcy over at Life with My 3 Boybarians announced her 2012 P52, the sole purpose of which is to "push you, motivate you, but one that’s not impossible to stick with. Something that will force you to use your photography muscles…Something with a variety of ideas to push your creativity…" Like what I mentioned in my first post this year, I want to really get to know my camera so this blog party is a great motivation for me to press on and move forward.

This week's theme is RESOLUTION and here's my interpretation. Our resolution is to do more DIY projects that won't break the bank so here's my hubby installing the curtain rod in our 4th bedroom, aka computer room/TV room/exercise room/craft room. I used Nikon D60 in all these shots.

(f/5, 1/30s, focal length=36mm; to understand what these numbers mean, read Darcy's 31 days series)

The picture turned out darker when I increased the f stop from f/5 to f6.3.

(f/6.3, 1/30s, focal length=36mm)

Changing the aperture to 2.8 and slowing the shutter speed to 1/20 registered overexposure in the camera metering but this is perfect for me.

As you can see, a little straightening and cropping is in order to enhance this picture. Adding the text RESOLUTION using Photoshop yielded this more visually appealing photo.

In case you're wondering how this little project turned out, friends, here's our newly-dressed up window.

  8. I love this 52 idea!! I mess around with light on my camera so much that half the time I don't know if it's coming in or going out! But I do love the overexposure. Nice end result!

  9. Ate Taya, you inspired me to do the 52 Day Challenge. I initially thought of doing 365 but I only managed to do 3 out of 7 for the first week. Thanks. I like reading your DIY stuff.

  24. The curtains look great and I love the wall color. This past weekend we triend putting up curtains in our boys room and they were too short so the rod bows in the center. Serves us right for not measuring first. Oops. Also thanks for sharing about the 52 week challenge. What a great idea.
