Onto another topic, my friends. Last Monday, I took Princess One to the cardiologist. I know, it sounds so big and ominous - CARDIOLOGIST. This appointment has been looming over my head since last year after her physical exam with her pedia and it felt like an axe that was about to fall and slice me in half because of "heart murmur." That was November so I was trying my darnest best to get her an appointment at the Children's Hospital in Orange County (CHOC) and I got one last December 27th. Well, of course doctors have to go on vacations, too, or probably, as I was told, a medical emergency that he has to attend to, so our appointment was cancelled last December 23rd and the earliest that she can be seen was supposed to be January 10, 2012. Well, I didn't sit there and wait to be scheduled for January 10th - it's my kid so I had to do something! I wanted a schedule sooner than January 10th so I would know what's really going on. Since our insurance is with Kaiser, I scheduled her for a cardiologist visit and we got one on the 9th. I'm just so thankful that our insurance has the flexibility to choose whichever doctor to go to and not be stuck with just one option. Going back to the cardiologist visit on the 9th, the nurse did an EKG (and how funny that it brought back scary memories when she was just born and the nurse had to poke her ankle to get blood samples because of jaundice) after which the heart doctor came in to give his diagnosis. My husband's parents had cardiac problems and my greatest worry is she might have inherited it, too. Here's the doctor's explanation: "8 out of 10 kids have heart murmur and from those 8, only 1 turns out to have a hole in her/his heart. EKG's result is normal, her heart sounds normal, she will just outgrow it." Then I sighed a sigh of relief. You know what relaxing thing I did upon hearing the good news? I started wading through 300+ emails and responded to the ones that needed responses :) I finished them all last night - Woohoo! I felt so good, my friends! Life is indeed beautiful.
