Blogging For Dollars Series - Guest Post by Jennifer from Dear Lillie

Hello, friends! The series continues and we're blessed to have Jennifer from Dear Lillie to share with us her money-making experience. With two girls to take care of, plus a husband, and an online business to manage, it's amazing how she's able to grow her blog. Take it away, Jennifer!

Can you please share how you started earning income from your blog?
1) Although we have used the blog to advertise our store's products for a while now, making money directly through the blog is something we actually just started doing this September. The two ways that we have done this so far are through taking on blog sponsors and hosting giveaways for other online stores and shops.

Can you please give advice on how bloggers can attract advertisers without turning off readers at the same time?
2) This was something we actually took into great consideration, and I think it is probably what most bloggers find most challenging when they first start trying to make an income from their work. As far as sponsors go, we actually held off for a while because we wanted to make sure we had a strong enough following. You want to make sure you offer your enough space for their buttons so that they are easily noticeable to your readers, but at the same time you don't want the buttons to become a distraction. With giveaways there's also an element of finding a happy medium. For us, we try to keep giveaways as just one aspect of what we do, so we probably end up turning down more than we accept. We know our readers love seeing a few giveaways each month, but we don't want to overdo it. We also want to make sure the items being given away and the stores being featured are going to be appealing to our audience.

Can you tip bloggers on how to balance family life and blogging?
3) This is one I still don't quite have down yet :) Blogging can be a very rewarding experience, but it also means a lot of late nights (and with two babies - a lot of early mornings on the other end haha). I am hoping to find a better balance this year!
