Market Your Biz & Giveaways Blog Party #12

Welcome to our 12th Market Your Biz & Giveaways blog party where business owners, bloggers, and buyers virtually meet! It has been long said that businesses are the lifeblood of the economy. Not only that, businesses really fuel the economy. This blog party, solely dedicated to promoting businesses and giveaways, is my way of giving back to the community.

Gina (who, by the way, will guest post here in my Blogging for Dollars Series) from the Shabby Chic Cottage said it best, "You may not get a sale directly from that site every single day – but you are building brand recognition. Pepsi does not advertise so that you stop what you’re doing and go directly to buy a drink – but when you do need to quench your thirst and you are shopping for a drink, Pepsi is going to be recognizable to you. Bottom line, you need to build your brand!" This blog party helps you accomplish build your brand.

Business owners, we wanna see your products. Giveaways are good because they create a buzz about your business. Giveaway hosts, we wanna join! Readers, here's your chance to win fabulous freebies. So come on in and participate in this virtual marketplace.

Featured Biz

What do you do when you want to show appreciation to businesses who link up? Of course, feature them one at a time. Today's featured biz is Little Miss Chic, owned by Angie from A Little Inspiration. This etsy shop has a collection of handmade, very reasonably-priced, hair accessories. You can see a few of her pretty creations below.

Our Party

NO RULES! Just link up your etsy and/or family-friendly business, browse other businesses before you and after you. It's a great way to network with other business owners. For the giveaways, same thing. Just link up your giveaways and join the other giveaways that catch your eye. If you have a creative post and you want to increase your followers, the appropriate blog party for that is called Creative Bloggers' Party & Hop.

Link opens every Tuesday, 5:00 pm, PST and ends Saturday, 11:59 pm.

Here's the party button. Displaying the party button on your blog, while optional, is very much appreciated! For one, it will help you to remember to come back here next week. Secondly, we want to spread the word about businesses and giveaways so many can join in. Mentioning it on Twitter and Facebook will also make you totally awesome :)

MYBG Inspiring Comments

"Thanks for hosting. Linkys for biz and giveaways are far and few; your linky has helped me reach to people saying that Adithis Amma Sews has launched Custom Made Kids Clothing and 2 Skirts are already on sale!"
Creative Mama

"Thank you so much for hosting. I've made a recent sale and believe it is from your blog party! Thanks again!"
Elisabeth Davis

"Thank you for hosting this every week. I have noticed that I do generate a lot of hits from your site and I really appreciate a place that I can find other etsy shops that I might not have seen otherwise. So thank you again."
Kate

Friends, network, buy if you must, join the giveaways, and have fun!

PS: I'm not a blog police but in the name of order and organization, you'll be my bloggy BFF if you link up in the appropriate links :D Please note that there are two links. Here's the link for your businesses. There's a second link below specifically for giveaways so how about linking up your giveaways in there? Besides, it's easier to find and join your giveaways if they're in the appropriate link. If you accidentally linked up in the wrong spot, don't fret. Just click the red x before your link to delete it, then link up in the correct spot.

Creative Bloggers' Party & Hop 08.28.11

Oh, my goodness, friends! This week went by like a blur. With that said, welcome to our 22nd week of CBPH! Friends, after so many clandestine virtual meetings, I'm so ready to spill the beans. We secretly concocted a massive blog party, spearheaded by Ange at the Blooming Hydrangea, that will give you a chance to showcase each room in your homes, and of course, in my home, too. We called it Roomspiration and we're all hoping you can swing by on the set dates to share your beautiful rooms. As you can see, I'm scheduled to host a blog party on September 16th about bathrooms and may you join us then with all your beautiful bathroom posts.

Update: Here are the buttons of the participating bloggers:

abode love: a man\View Along the Way
  Involving Color
{ All Things Bright and Beautiful }  Touch of Gray
The Blooming Hydrangea  The Mustard Ceiling
 The DIY Show Off

Co-host
My co-host this week is Emily from Domestic Deadline. She's a SAHM to three crazy and fun kiddos who would rather craft than clean. She loves to sew, paint, decorate, knit, crochet, bake, scrapbook and mainly upcycle and re-purpose! A few months ago, she started an etsy shop, Harper N Co, to sell some of her creations, many which are fun collaborations with her children. Her blog helps her cross things off her constantly growing to-create list, "Mission Organization Monday" and "What I Made to Wear Wednesday" are fairly regular for her. As of this time, she might not respond quickly to your emails because she lives right by the hurricane belt so may you also extend prayers for her and her family's safety.

Blog Tip
Key Lime Digital Designs offers Easy Tips to Optimize Your Blog Design. Here's a sneak peek of what she said, "The header is the first thing people see when they come to your blog! It should ultimately represent what your blog is all about! The title should be big and bold." How true that is!

Favorite Blog
You clicked, inlinkz tallied. The readers' favorite blog post this past week out of 251 links, being the most viewed post, is Sunla Designs' helpful post on Mess Management Monday #4: Craft Room - Fabric Bolts. We all crave for organization and her timely post satisfied it.

Some CBPH Features
I've been meaning to do a feature post of last week's CBPH Party last Thursday but because yesterday was Princess Two's birthday party, I know you'll forgive me ;)

Photobucket

You'll say, "Waaay too late!" but I can't let the week pass without mentioning these outstanding posts shared. Here we go.

This spray-painted sofa by Johnny In A Dress is such a novel and thrifty idea. Instead of buying a new couch, just paint over the old dark one.

This is a stunning white fireplace conversion by 221 Vision.

Remodelaholic shared the progress of their stair risers. If this doesn't motivate you to get into a DIY project, my friends, I don't know what will.

Five Days Five Ways showed a great way to make good use of those egg cartons in her Egg Carton Flower Tutorial

Last, but certainly not the least, is Jennifer Mohler's Chalk Board Calendar Tutorial. Check her out for the detailed steps on how to accomplish this.

Our Party
To the main course of this post.
For those of you joining us for the first time, we only have 2 easy, simple rules:

1) Link up your creative post - can be a DIY project, decor, photography, crafts, recipes, poem, thrift finds, link party, or that informative syndicated post that can make us laugh, or cry - in short, whatever you're proud of! And if you like to link more creative posts, go for it! We'd love to see them :) (No links to businesses or giveaways. We have another party for these exclusively every Tuesday called Market Your Biz & Giveaways at 5 pm, PST.)

2) Follow as many blogs as you desire, preferably starting first with the one who linked before you and after you, before branching out, and let them know by leaving a comment. (Following me and the co-host will be very much appreciated, and we definitely follow back. Just let us know you're following.)

Displaying the party button on your blog, while optional, is very much appreciated :) It will help you remember to come back and link up to the the happiest blog party on the block (ahem!). It will also help others find their way to the party which we all love because the more the merrier :)

Link opens up every Sunday at 5:00 pm, PST and ends Friday at 11:59 pm.

Because I like something different, I'm using the reverse entry for inlinkz - so the most recent participant will show up as number 1, thus giving everybody a chance to have the #1 spot.

Friends, go ahead and get to know each :) One followed blogger is one gained friend. And please, don't forget to join my Market Your Biz and Giveaways blog party every Tuesday at 5 pm, PST. It's your chance for free promotion of your family-friendly business and giveaways.

Burning question: Did you hire somebody to design your blog look or did you do it yourself? Why? Please do share.

Yes, I hired Kim from 733 Blog to prettify my blog. I officially started blogging on September 28, 2010 when I did my About Me post, and from that point on, I've been reading ways to upgrade my blog's look. The downside is, researching about it and doing trial-and-error experiments on my blog took me forever, so I just decided to leave it to the professional. There are many blog designers who do a great job so as a starting point, you can check out 733 Blog, Happy Potamus Designs, Key Lime Digital Designs. And NO, I wasn't paid to mention their businesses here. Just helping you out for your blog design needs.

How about you? Have you had a blog redesign? What's your experience?

Hotdog Kebobs

Howdy friends! Please don't think that I just created an alien abduction thingy as seen from the picture below. Consider this as my creative venture in making hotdog kebobs which we prepared for Princess One's birthday party yesterday.

Photobucket

It's so easy to make (yes, I'm all for doing easy things with a big impact) and will always turn out a big hit to the palates of your little guests.

Simply have the following ingredients and supply handy:

Cheese
Hotdog
Marshmallows - one bag of big and one bag of small ones
Skewers
Cabbage

Photobucket

Cube the cheese and warm up the hotdogs. Insert the big marshmallow, followed by the cheese, small marshmallow, a slice of the hotdog, and then the small marshmallow.

Photobucket

Stick the skewers in a cabbage one by one and here's how it'll look like.

Photobucket

One more close up look of my masterpiece.

Photobucket

Finally, I got them all together inserted in the cabbage.

Photobucket

Here's the birthday girl savoring every piece of it. All her kiddie guest love it, too!

Blogging For Dollars Series - Guest Post by Kristyn from Lil' Luna

I'm a blog-party-loving gal, my friends, and this guest blogger has been one of my favorite blog party hosts. She is very widely known in the blogging circle so though I don't need to introduce her to you, I am happily doing so. I don't know how she's doing it but Kristyn, that winning smile face over at Lil' Luna, publishes so many creative things almost on a daily basis. She loves making things, and she loves sharing the ideas she used or found with others.

Here's what you can expect on Lil' Luna:

MONDAY
Miscellaneous, Random, BUT AWESOME Crafts or Ideas!

TUESDAY
Tutorial Day - Step by Step Instructions for making one-of-a-kind items and PRINTABLES

WEDNESDAY
Lil' Luna Link Party, and if you're lucky - a GIVEAWAY!!

THURSDAY
Holiday 101 Ideas

FRIDAY
Food fun, Recipes, Food Tutorials and BLOG SWAPS

WEEKEND
Too Cool Not to Share Crafts and Ideas

I asked Kristyn to offer up her money-making secrets and she willingly obliged. We are all fortunate to hear from a great blogger. Take it away, Kristyn!

Hi there Homemaker on a Dime Readers!

My name is Kristyn and I blog over at Lil' Luna.
It's a place I like to share some of my ideas as well as my favorite ideas I've found out in Blog Land. I like to post about my most favorite things - recipes, crafts, printables, holiday items, style/trends, tips - you name it!!

Come check it out to find some inspiration!

SJ has asked that I write a post for her site that addresses the following questions.

1) Share how you started earning income from your blog?

When I first started my blog, I knew it would take awhile to start earning money.
To jump start it all, I got several cute posts ready and then sent out a mass email to family and friends. I decided to do a giveaway to get some followers and facebook fans. From there, I asked family and friends with etsy shops/blogs to advertise for $5/month. A ton of people took me up on the offer! I knew if I had advertisers that I had to make sure I kept up with the cute posts and ideas. That seemed to work because my blog got more and more fans and traffic!! Now, I do SocialSpark, Clever Girls and Google Ads to make even more money and I have enjoyed working with those companies!!

2) Give advice on how bloggers can attract advertisers without turning
off readers at the same time?

More than anything I recommend choosing what you want your blog to be and then making it that. I wanted mine to be a huge resource of fun, unique and inexpensive ideas. Now that I've done that people know what to expect when they come to Lil' Luna. Because I made sure to post often and have cute things, people kept coming and with that, advertisers started seeking me out, which has been AWESOME!! To keep readers from being turned off, I suggest you only do ads, reviews or write-ups for companies you really like and not just for anyone. :)

3) Tip bloggers on how to balance family life and blogging?

It's always hard to balance family life and blogging, but what has helped me is setting business hours. I blog early in the morning, late at night or during nap time. I've realized that when I'm slacking and end up on the computer during the day, it causes stress and tension in the family so I try REALLY hard not to do it. My kiddos are just growing up so fast and if I spend all my time on the computer, I'm really gonna miss out on all those fun memories with them which is PRICELESS. I've loved blogging because I've met so many fun people and have been forced to be more creative but I've said it before and I'll say it again...
Blogging is Good.
Blogging friends is Better.
Family is Best.

Thanks for having me SJ, and be sure to come on over to
Lil' Luna and check out the FUN!

XO - Kristyn

Thank you, Kristyn, for such a very informative post. We surely benefitted so much from your ideas.

Friends, stay tuned because we have more guest bloggers in the next weeks ahead.
