Please note that I'm updating this post originally published for Kate's Mom Cave contest (Centsational Girl) so I can also join Susan's Mom Cave contest (Between Naps on the Porch). All updates are italicized.
Believe it or not, my talented friends, this is my current “Mom Cave”

and my favorite is this art.

As a mom to young kids, that 5 to 10-minute daily commune with Mother Nature gives me time to breathe and shut off the world's cares for just a little bit, then consult my calendar for the day, cross out what I have accomplished, and review the items that still need to be done.
It's clearly evident that my current mom cave doesn't live up to the ideal "Mom Cave of all Mom Caves" because of the sterile white color and bare walls,

outdated vanity and mirror,

and unattractive lights (and don't get me started with the laminate tile floors).

Since our recent move, I’ve been wanting to update its look starting with this from HomeGoods:

I'm realistic enough to know that such a beautiful item like this doesn't last long at HomeGoods so I have a plan B.
Plan B includes these awesome items from HomeGoods - sigh...I'm in heaven already.

Why should I win? So Blogland can see the evolution of my current plain mom cave into an aesthetically pleasing oasis that a $250 HomeGoods gift certificate can magically transform. If I win, I pledge to post my 'before and after' at Susan's Met Monday, so help me JUDGES.
Hope the power of intention works again!

Update: I'm linking with Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch for her HomeGoods Mom Cave Contest.

I love that vanity and it would look so nice in your Mom Cave. Love the painted room make-over too. It's amazing what a little paint can do. I posted about my newly painted bed/bath rooms just last week.

Have to love a mom with a great sense of humor to. Tranquility is where you find it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the contest.
Oh goodness . . . I know what you mean. Sometimes that moment in the bathroom is all the time I get to myself in a day as well.
ReplyDeleteOh you're too funny. If you can actually be in there by yourself, you're a better mom than I. I didn't get to use the bathroom by myself from 1989 - 1994!
ReplyDeleteFunny! And so, so true. I hope you win!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful vanity! It will look wonderful in your mom cave.

Too funny SJ...we all have our THRONES ;) That is a great deal on that sink and the white sink still matches your throne...so it will work...lol Best of luck, fondly, Roberta

ReplyDeleteLOVE it!!!!! I sometimes can't even get privacy in the bathroom...my 4 year old was hovering outside the door this morning waiting to ask me something. :s Visiting from Kate's Mom Cave party. Hope you'll stop by my blog to say hi. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so totally cracking me up right now! Way to go! Let's all get this little secret out in the open and just admit that sometimes this is the only place we are ever actually alone! And, sometimes even that room isn't sacred! :-)
ReplyDeleteJust wanted you to know too that I am going to be featuring your nightstand transformation at this weeks Inspiration Friday party. Hope that's ok with you!

Calgon! take me away! I love all the updates you've chosen! Lezlee
ReplyDeleteToo funny! Great picks! Your bathroom would look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI believe that before one can receive one has to ASK and I think you did a wonderful job of sending those thoughts out to the Universe (and the judges.)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I really love the sink/vanity that you have picked out.
ReplyDeleteI re-mixed my bathroom a couple of months ago, and know that it is so nice to be happy with your bathroom.
Best of luck!
I have a bathroom of the same ilk. You do deserve it, and a soaker tub to boot.
ReplyDeleteBest of you to you...
